Advanced instructions for adding images to pages.
Alternatively, use the basic instructions, and post a link to the page in the To Do list.
Note:
- Images must be 20KB or less.
- You must be an authorised editor to upload.
- For the page to which you wish to add the image, edit the page and insert the line
%rframe% Attach:imagename.ext | Caption
- imagename is the name of the image
- ext is the image extension (jpg, jpeg, bmp, tif, etc.)
- Caption is the image caption
%rframe% places a frame around the image and places it on the right hand side
- i.e., to insert Me20_08_08.jpg to the page, add the line
%rframe% Attach:Me20_08_08.jpg | John Doe
- The name must not contain any spaces; you can replace these with underscores ( _ ) or simply remove them
- This name does not have to be the same as the real image name (i.e. you can rename the image). For example, if you wish to change Me20_08_08.jpg to johndoe2008.jpg, refer to the image by its new name in this step
%rframe% Attach:johndoe2008.jpg | John Doe
- The relative position within the text defines where the image appears on the page; for more information and advanced placement options, see Images.
- Click Save to save the edited page and view it
- Click on the attach link within the text, which will appear as Attach:imagename.ext Δ
- This will take you to the upload page, use the Browse... button to locate the image
- Do not change the Name attachment as field
- Click the Upload button to complete the process.
- Once this is complete, click View in the top right hand corner to view the page
- Please be sure to state the image source (see example pages) if you are not the copyright holder of the image
Further notes:
- Once a picture has been uploaded, it will appear under the Existing uploads section of the Attach page. If it has been uploaded and not yet attached to the page, simply perform steps 1 to 3, with imagename and ext as listed on the Attach page (you cannot now change the image name without uploading it again).
- If you do alter the Name attachment as field, you must update the attach line to match before the image will display.
For information on advanced image options and placement within the page, see Images
